A game's art style can play a pivotal part in its themes and impact on the player. How would "Papers, Please" feel if its color palette weren't limited or if it were in 3D?  Or "Okami" if it used a single line weight for all of its assets instead of mimicking wood-carved or watercolor art?

But when spreading a unique art style across a team, it can be a worry that the style may become inconsistent or the art direction may be lost in translation. This can lead to lost money (in paying for assets) or lost time in having to redo assets over more consistently. This is where an art bible comes in!

An art bible is a guidebook made up of the key features and references for your game's art direction. This can help with big art teams where one needs to keep the art consistent across many different artists AND with small teams to make sure the game's art doesn't stray too far from the intent.

Included in this pay-what-you-want package is a template for a potential art bible! This is the template DVNC uses for our games (adapted straight from Monochrome RPG's art bible), and we hope that this helps developers out there as much as it's helped us!
